An old saying in the trade but with some truth to it! - the 2009 vintage at Chard Farm saw our winemaking team John Wallace (chief winemaker), Duncan Gibson (cellar supervisor) and visiting vintage hand Ben Friesan from USA partake in a home brewing “brew off”. Needless to say there were some strange hoppy smells in the winery over vintage. John has now taken the technology to the next level and is busy modifying some stainless steel kegs to get just the right temp and pressure for boiling the wort. He’s made his first English Bitter and next up is a North German Lager... Prost!
