Spring Composting at Chard Farm
25 October 2013
Once again Spring is upon us and the vines have begun to grow. A Spring tradition here at Chard Farm is making of this years compost. The left over material from the 2013 winemaking process (magic) is layered with hay and locally sourced horse poo to compost down over the upcoming year. The pile will be turned as required and the temperature checked repeatedly to ensure a healthy living compost.
Last years compost will be shovelled out under the vines that could use that little extra help to create the wonderful wines here at Chard Farm.
