We're concluding a great vintage here in Central Otago and are now pressing off the Pinot ferments. Its our first look at the quality potential of the vintage. Impressions are, at this early stage very clean, bright fruit, with great vibrancy and intensity, excellent colour and fine tight tannins. 2013 should be a Central Otago cracker!!

Its always a great time of the year in the cellar when the air is full of the aroma of glorious fermenting pinot! Its a bit of a teaser and a sneak peak as to what's coming up in the barrels. Niki Dow and Logan Richmond have been hard at work over the last couple of weeks pampering and massaging the pinots into shape.

Meet Karlo one of our great Vanuatuan workers. He has been with us for 3 years now and has, over that time, developed a special relationship with Blake, aged 5 who is the son of our vineyard manager - Brock. Karlo returns home to Vanuatu at the end of each season and takes with him a present from Blake of some hand-me-down clothes for his 4 year old son Jacob.

We bade farewell to our Vanuatuan vineyard crew yesterday. Karlo, Philip, Roma, Pedro and Vuni returned to their homeland, having been with us for the vineyard growing season, October May. They work for us each year and are a great bunch of guys, super friendly with an amazing work ethic and lovely humble outlook on life. We could all learn a lot from them. Philip is getting married as soon as he returns . Have a great wedding Philip, wishing you and your wife all the best for the future.
